About us

Why SAV Pflegeleicht?

Do you want a job with a future that really matters? With us you can start your nursing career in Germany — also if you come from another country. You choose between the 3-year apprenticeship as Pflegefachfrau / Pflegefachmann and the 18-month apprenticeship as Pflegefachassistenz. You learn home care in practice with a fixed instructor, and the theory at a nursing school.

  • Top employer DIQP 2024/25
  • Friendly, experienced team
  • Based in Weingarten (Baden) near Karlsruhe

Your tasks

  • You choose your path: Pflegefachfrau / Pflegefachmann (3 years) or Pflegefachassistenz (18 months) — practical training with us, theory at a nursing school
  • 3-year path (Pflegefachfrau / Pflegefachmann): the general nursing apprenticeship — you learn all nursing tasks step by step and finish with a state exam
  • 18-month path (Pflegefachassistenz): you help with basic care and simple medical care and support our clients in their daily life
  • Home care means: together with experienced colleagues you visit our clients in their own homes — a fixed practical instructor (Praxisanleitung) is always there for you

Your profile

  • For the 3-year path: a school leaving certificate after 10 years of school (mittlerer Schulabschluss) or equivalent
  • For the 18-month path: a school leaving certificate after 9 years of school (Hauptschulabschluss) or equivalent
  • Foreign school certificates usually need to be checked for equivalence — we help you with this
  • German at least at level B1, better B2 — classes and exams at the nursing school are in German
  • You enjoy working with people, you are reliable and you want to learn
  • Driving licence (class B) is an advantage — or willingness to get one

What we offer

  • Paid apprenticeship — we pay above the collective agreement (übertarifliche Ausbildungsvergütung)
  • A fixed practical instructor and a real chance to stay with us after your exam
  • Career path: after the Pflegefachassistenz you can continue with the 3-year apprenticeship
  • Support with learning German — during the application and the apprenticeship
  • Support with the nursing school place, the recognition of your school certificate and visa questions
  • A team that sticks together and helps you settle in

Step by step

How to apply

  1. Documents you need

Please upload your documents as PDF or Word files. Your normal documents are enough to start.

    • CV in table form (tabellarischer Lebenslauf) — please explain longer gaps
    • Your school leaving certificate
    • German language certificate, if you have one (aim for B1, better B2)
    • A short motivation letter: why nursing, why us — optional, a few sentences are enough
  2. How the apprenticeship works

The apprenticeship in Germany is "dual": you learn in practice with us in home care and in theory at a partner nursing school (Pflegeschule). In the 3-year path you also spend some weeks in other places, for example in a hospital — this is part of every nursing apprenticeship in Germany. We help you with the nursing school and the start date.

  3. Apply online

Click "Apply now". Our application form is in English and takes only a few minutes. You do not need to send anything by email or post. We read every application and reply to you personally.

You do not need certified translations or official recognition before you apply. Send your normal documents first. If we move forward together, we guide you through translations, recognition (Anerkennung) and visa questions.

Questions and answers

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a driving licence?

Not to start the apprenticeship. But in home care we drive to our clients by car, so a driving licence (class B) is a big advantage. If you do not have one yet, tell us whether you are willing to get one.

What German level do I need?

At least B1, better B2. Classes and exams at the nursing school are in German, and you talk with our clients every day. If your German is not there yet, apply anyway and tell us your level — we support you with learning German.

Can you help me with the visa and the recognition of my school certificate?

Yes, we support you with these steps — for example which documents you need, the recognition of your school certificate and the visa for an apprenticeship. The German authorities make the decision, so nobody can guarantee a visa. But we stay at your side during the process.

When can I start?

The apprenticeship starts on fixed dates of the nursing school. We find the next possible start together with you. If you come from abroad, please plan enough time for the visa and for German courses.

What happens after I apply?

We look at your documents and contact you by email or phone. Then we get to know each other — in person at our office in Weingarten, or, if you live abroad, we agree the next step with you. If it fits for both sides, we plan your start together.
